Compare the Silverado EV to the Ford F-150 Lightning
The Chevy Silverado EV vs. the Ford F-150 Lightning: Which truck is leading the EV pickup revolution?
Pickup trucks have long been some of the most popular models for Kansas drivers. But while midsize, light-duty, and even heavy-duty full size pickups have always been a common sight on the roads of Council Grove and Eureka, KS, a different breed of pickups is about to be a lot more common. The electric revolution has finally come to the pickup truck market, and the new Chevy Silverado EV is paving the way for a whole new generation of alternative fuel vehicles.
However, while the new Chevy Silverado EV is a pioneering nameplate for the Chevy Brand and the electric pickup segment as a whole, it's not without its rivals. In fact, the Ford Brand has come with its own EV pickup truck, dubbed the Ford F-150 Lightning, to stakes its own claim in the growing segment? But can the "Lightning" truly live up to its namesake and stand on even footing with the new Chevy Silverado EV? Read on to find out!

Range
Naturally, the thing that most EV shoppers are concerned with is how far a vehicle can go on a full charge. In that regard, the Chevy Silverado EV is well-equipped to go the distance. In fact, when fully charged, the new Chevy Silverado EV boasts a GM-estimated range of up to 400 miles. That's enough to make the trip all the way from San Francisco to Los Angeles without stopping for a charge.
Now, the new Ford F-150 Lightning may have its own exceptional EV powertrain, but it pales in comparison to the Ultium platform of the new Chevy Silverado EV when it comes to range. In fact, the Ford F-150 Lightning can only go up to an estimated 300 miles on a full charge, making it less appealing for truck shoppers who want a vehicle for the long haul in the greater Osage City area.
Performance
While efficiency and range are important to many Burlington, KS drivers, it's still important that EV pickups offer ample power. In that regard, the new Chevy Silverado EV excels. With Wide Open Watts, the new Chevy Silverado EV delivers up to 660 horsepower and 780 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds. Comparatively, the new Ford F-150 Lightning only offers up to 563 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque.
Capability
When properly equipped, the new Chevy Silverado EV can tow up to 10,000 pounds, and a Chevy Silverado EV Work Truck model is in the works with a projected towing capacity of up to 20,000 pounds. The Ford F-150Â Lightning may be able to tow up to 10,000 pounds, but it start off with just 7,700 pounds of towing capacity, so you'll have to pay extra for the equipment to bring it up to the level of the Chevy Silverado EV.

Features
One of our favorite features in the new Chevy Silverado EV is its Multi-Flex Mid-Gate with pass-through. Coupled with its front trunk, this feature makes the new Chevy Silverado EV a cargo carrying machine, capable of accommodating items up to 10-feet in length. While the new Ford F-150 Lightning has a front trunk, it doesn't have any features like the Multi-Flex Mid-Gate with pass-through, hampering its cargo carrying capability overall.
